Gary A. Officer is a seasoned C-suite executive with extensive leadership experience across workforce development, affordable housing, consumer finance, and public policy. Known for his strategic vision and ability to drive transformational change, he has successfully led national organizations that have significantly impacted communities and industries. His expertise in building and sustaining partnerships has been a hallmark of his career, consistently delivering outcomes that benefit both communities and stakeholders.
Gary is currently President & CEO of CWI Works, the largest national nonprofit dedicated exclusively to job training and employment opportunities for older job seekers. He also serves as Founder & CEO of CWI Labs, a social enterprise that drives innovation in workforce training and placement, expands employment opportunities, and brings discouraged workers into the labor force so every American can achieve economic opportunity and security through work.
From 2006 to 2013, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Rebuilding Together, Inc., the nation’s largest volunteer-based homeownership preservation nonprofit and the fourth-largest remodeler. Under his leadership, the organization grew its operating income sevenfold and created award-winning partnerships with leading corporate brands in support of its mission.
Gary has also served as President of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF), the national foundation supporting credit union development in the United States. During his tenure, NCUF achieved a tenfold increase in credit union participation in a community investment fund that provided grants, loans, and secondary capital to credit unions and related organizations nationwide.
Gary earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Political Science from Manchester Metropolitan University and a Master of Science (MSc) (Econ) in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He also completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
