The Hidden Side of Longevity
Despite the extensive national conversation on longevity, there is little focus on a deep structural issue: workers cannot save for longer lives if they cannot consistently access jobs, training, advancement, and economic mobility across extended careers. CWI, with support from T-Mobile, commissioned Ipsos to conduct the Longevity Workforce Outlook Survey, a first-of-its-kind national survey of U.S. adults ages 18–75, looking at how access to training and jobs shapes Americans’ long-term financial security as they age.
Among other findings, the survey reveals a clear disconnect between how older workers are perceived and what they are capable of and doing. And this disconnect is holding back older worker and employers from success.
