Americans are living longer, but much of today’s public conversation around longevity focuses narrowly on retirement timing and savings accumulation. This framing overlooks a deeper structural issue: workers cannot save for longer lives if they cannot consistently access jobs, training, advancement, and economic mobility across extended careers.

CWI is working to change this situation by inserting ‘work’ into the national conversation on longevity.

CWI, with support from T-Mobile, commissioned Ipsos to conduct a first-of-its-kind national survey of U.S. adults ages 18–75, looking at how access to training and jobs shapes Americans’ long-term financial security as they age.

Contrary to persistent stereotypes, older workers are embracing, not resisting, AI and technology. But employers are still shutting them out of jobs and training. Award-winning journalist Ramona Schindelheim sat down with our President & CEO, Gary A. Officer, to take a deep look at these findings and the implications for employers, workers, and the economy.
