Angela Ciccolo is the Board Chair Emeritus of CWI Works Board of Directors. A visionary, results-oriented leader and change agent, Ms. Ciccolo brings an impressive track record of transforming and growing organizations, and motivating teams through innovation, increased revenue, and enhanced performance. She is an attorney and accomplished business executive who inspires confidence and trust while motivating high performing teams. She is an expert in the development and execution of strategic plans and alliances . 

Ms. Ciccolo retired from The Humane Society of the United States where she served as General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer. Her efforts supported the fight to end suffering and cruel practices for all animals, to support care for all animals in crisis, and to build a stronger animal protection movement.

Prior to The Humane Society, Ms. Ciccolo spent 12 years with Special Olympics, including leading its Legal Department and serving as Secretary to its Board of Directors. In this role, she was responsible for the organization’s legal operations, compliance with the U.S. and international legal requirements, biannual accreditation of every Special Olympics Program, risk management, and registration of Special Olympics offices worldwide. She also had a special role in protecting the mission of the Special Olympics through oversight and compliance with the Special Olympics’ General Rules, the principal governing policies of the Special Olympics movement.

Ciccolo joined Special Olympics after ten years with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the United States. She served as the organization’s General Counsel and Secretary, managing all internal and external legal matters, and was the first woman to hold that position in the history of the organization.

Ciccolo is an experienced litigator and a member of the DC Bar, Maryland Bar, and US Supreme Court Bar. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.  Ciccolo is an award-winning author and recipient of numerous awards including the Medgar Evers Award of Excellence and the Bar Association of DC’s Annice M. Wagner Pioneer Award.
